Why did you start your business?

 

I love to get creative in the kitchen, I love to garden and I love everything about Honey Bees. They are so intelligent and an integral part of our food system, which I get to witness everyday on my little homestead. From pollinating our food supply to making Honey, Pollen, Propolis, Royal Jelly and Wax, Honey Bees are simply incredible beings. My love of Gardening, Bees and Cooking came together when I began experimenting by adding herbs and spices to our honey. What happened was something magical! It was something I knew I wanted to share with others. I was looking to start my own business and waiting for the perfect fit, something that would bring together what is important to me and match my values and I knew this was it! It is being an amazing experience full of learning, challenges, creativity, connection and rewards. What I find most rewarding is watching peoples eyes light up when they sample my Infused Honeys. They truly are special.

Do you have any goals or plans for you business in the next 5 years?

I would like to increase our environmental impact in a positive way. Blue Sage Honey Company is a mission driven company, I strive to be eco-friendly in all my business practices and I only want to increase this effort. The bees are very dear to my heart and I want to give back. This is why a portion of proceeds from each sale goes to causes that support the Honey Bees in research and protection efforts. There is definitely room for growth and I hope to continue to expand my community and see more and more shelves stocked with these Specialty Foods.
