Why did you start your business?

 

I started my business because I realized that while exercise is great for you, the way we eat impacts our health even more. I became a certified Health Coach and began to teach people how to eat healthier and grow their own herbs and vegetables. It soon became apparent that when you remove the unhealthy fats from our diets, we need to replace it with flavor.

I began creating spice blends to use in recipes during my cooking classes, and my clients began asking for more. That’s when I decided to market my spice blends and create another business around food! I had no experience starting a business much less a spice company, but I worked really hard night and day to learn the market especially packaging, and I used my marketing background to help create a brand and products that I genuinely love.

Do you have any goals or plans for you business in the next 5 years?

Yes! I really enjoy seeing my company grow, but more importantly, I like to see the excitement in peoples’ eyes when they realize they can truly enjoy “healthy” food. I want to redefine healthy eating and show people that with the right spices and some creativity, you can live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy it.

In terms of my products, I would like to make them available nationally in local health food stores without sacrificing the personal nature of my business.  This can be very difficult, but I know it is possible.

I would also like to make my cooking classes available to more people online. It’s a challenge, but I am definitely working towards it!
